Ministers' Wives Conference of the Southern Baptist
Convention
Bible
study teacher and author Beth Moore will
be the featured speaker at this year's Ministers'
Wives Conference of the Southern Baptist Convention
June 15 in Indianapolis.
Moore
will be joined by Travis Cottrell, worship
leader for her Living Proof Live events.
The
conference theme will be "The Designer's Label,"
based on the Message translation of Colossians 3:10, "Now
you're dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way
of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it.
All the old fashions are now obsolete."
"It
talks about how God has given us everything we need to live
this life," said Donna Gaines, 2004 conference president
and wife of Steve Gaines, senior pastor of First Baptist Church
in Gardendale, Ala.
The
11:30 a.m. ministers' wives luncheon Tuesday,
June 15, will be held in the Sagamore Ballroom
of the Indiana Convention Center, the site of the June 15-16
Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting.
Advance
tickets, at $10 each, may be ordered by sending a
check payable to the SBC Ministers' Wives Conference and a
self-addressed stamped envelope to Marilyn Foley, University
of Mobile, P.O. Box 13220, Mobile, AL 36663-0220. Advanced
ticket orders must be postmarked by May 15.
Tickets
purchased at the SBC annual meeting will be $12 each.
Organizers
are anticipating a capacity crowd of 2,000 women.
Last
year, nearly 1,000 women gathered in Phoenix to hear from
author and humorist Liz Curtis Higgs, who spoke on the theme
"Jewels in the Desert" and challenged the women
to see themselves as God sees them.
Also
at this year's luncheon, the 2004 Mrs. J.M. Dawson Distinguished
Service Award for "distinct denominational contribution
beyond the local church" will be awarded. Last year's
award was given to Joyce Rogers, wife of Adrian Rogers, senior
pastor of the Memphis-area Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova,
Tenn.
The
luncheon, always held on Tuesday during the SBC annual meeting,
is open to all wives of ministers -- pastors, staff
members, chaplains, missionaries and denominational workers.
