urges prayer for national revival; Hemphill introduced as EKG strategist
PHOENIX (BP)--Saying there hasn't been a national "spiritual
awakening" during his lifetime, Executive Committee President Morris H. Chapman
called on Southern Baptists June 17 to fall on their knees in prayer and ask God
to send revival to the nation.
Delivering his Executive Committee report at the SBC annual meeting in Phoenix,
Chapman said the convention's Empowering Kingdom Growth initiative has few program-like
plans and little published material. But even at this stage, the initiative
asks believers to ask themselves one question: "Am I a Kingdom person?"
Being a Kingdom person, Chapman said, involves praying. [Read

PHOENIX (BP)--Each day of the year in America, more than 3,571 families end
in divorce. More than 50 percent of the children in America's public schools
live in single-parent homes. Of the nation's children who live apart from their
biological fathers, 50 percent have never set foot in their father's home.
At a time when the family is disintegrating, Southern Baptists want to bring
hope and healing.
In a Kingdom Family Rally June 16 in Phoenix, the SBC Council on Family Life
enunciated "Seven Pillars of a Kingdom Family" by which families can
embrace a Scripture-based path for the home. [Read
